Workshops

At the moment, I offer two main modalities of photography workshops:

1. Online workshops
2. In-field workshops

The topics addressed in each type of workshop are detailed bellow:

1. Online workshops

  • Workshop 1: two-hour session of photo-critiques and evaluations.
  • Workshop 2: two-hour session on the basics of photography:
    • The relationships between f-stops, shutter speed, ISO and exposure
    • Depth of field
    • White balance and colour temperature
    • Camera settings according to each situation and type of light
    • Learning to interpret the histogram
    • Photography equipment and their purpose: lenses, filters, tripod, flashes.
  • Workshop 3: Four-hour session on intermediate visual design topics:
    • Elements of visual design (shapes, colours, lines, textures, etc)
    • Balance and composition
    • Techniques and methods to apply visual designs.
  • Workshop 4: a four-hours session on advanced level topics
    • Understanding light (Types and quality of light)
    • Effectiveness of visual language and communication
    • Creativity in photography
    • Expressive photography.

2. In-field workshops

**Note: given the current situation with COVID-19, in-field workshops are suspended until further notice**

These workshops are offered on a one-to-one basis. The main reason for this is that I strongly believe students can get the most out of my knowledge and experience only if my full attention and words are delivered to one single person. However, I’m open to make exceptions and accept a maximum of three people in the these workshops, if required.

  • Workshop 1 (for beginners): a full-day (7-8 hours) session on the following topics:
    • The relationships between f-stops, shutter speed, ISO and exposure.
    • Depth of field
    • White balance and colour temperature.
    • Camera settings according to each situation or type of light
    • Learning to interpret the histogram
  • Workshop 2 (intermediate): a full-day (9-10 hours) on visual design topics:
    • Elements of visual design (shapes, colours, lines, textures, etc)

    • Techniques and methods to apply visual designs.
  • Workshop 3 (advanced level): Full-day course (9-10 hours) on advanced level topics:
    • Understanding light (Types and quality of light)
    • Effectiveness of visual language and communication
